Student and Parent Volunteers Needed for Emergency Drill

On October 18th, 2019, Preston School District will conduct an emergency preparedness drill centered around the reunification process.  If there were ever an emergency that required that we evacuate students from their school, the district has identified multiple options as locations for reuniting parents with their students.  On days such as this, stress levels for parents would understandably be high and being reunited with their children would be of utmost importance.   This process must be done in an orderly fashion so that students are reunited with their parents as quickly as possible and that we as a school district can verify that each student is accounted for.  One student unaccounted for is unacceptable.

In an effort to make that process as smooth as possible we would like to run a drill simulating an emergency, the evacuation, and the reunification process.  We will need volunteers to participate as students and parents.  The schedule of the drill will be as follows:

--8:00 am, meeting with all staff and volunteers (parents and students) at high school auditorium
--8:30 am, staff and students move to starting positions (Junior High and Pioneer)
--approximately 8:45 to 9:00, start drill
--approximately 9:00-9:30, students evacuated to reunification location
--9:00-11:30, reunification
--11:30--12:00, debriefing and lunch provided for staff and volunteers

If you are interested in participating with your junior high- or high-school-aged children, please fill out the information using the link below.  You will receive additional information at the email address you have listed.  If you have more than one student that you would like to have volunteer for this drill, please use the spaces below. Only one student would be required.
